Little black cups

These cups are made from a charcoal black, and very textural stoneware clay, then glazed with a deep black mottled glaze. During the kiln firing the iron in the clay interacts with the glaze giving it a mica-like sparkle.  I love the juxtaposition here of the rough clay texture with the satiny smooth finish of the glaze.

The foot of each cup is sanded to a smooth finish

Each piece is unique, and some variation is to be expected.  

Measures appx. 3.5” at the rim and 2.25” tall.  Holds appx 4 fl.oz (150 mL)
